Bilfinger BergerCut-and-Cover Method

The cut-and-cover method derives from urban tunneling. By replacing the original surface at an early stage of the project, traffic interruption can be minimized and excavation can continue underneath without major disturbance. The cover can also be used as an additional bracing level for the excavation pit. In the past few years, this method was also widely used to construct large excavation pits. Total construction time can be minimized as construction above and underneath the cover can pursue simultaneously.
