A diaphragm wall is the structurally strongest method for any size or depth of retaining wall. Rectangular panels are excavated and backfilled with reinforcement cages and/or concrete. Any shape of wall can be constructed by combining primary and secondary panels. Diaphragm walls can also act as cut-off walls during deep penetration into an impermeable soil layer. With this method walls with a thickness of up to 1.20 m and a depth exceeding 50 m can be built.
