Start of diaphragm wall works at the Wehrhahn Line subway construction site in Düsseldorf

Start of diaphragm wall works at the Wehrhahn Line subway construction site in Düsseldorf

After traffic was pushed off to one side of the road on the Elisabethstraße near the furure Graf-Adolf-Platz subway station, it was possible to free the other side of the road through the shifting of water and sewage tubes, pipes and cables.

Diaphragm wall works have now begun in this open construction area. The diaphragm walls form the water-tight lining of the future cut-and-cover pit and reach 36 meters deep.

In the coming months, diaphragm wall works will also start at the other future subway stations. In October 2008, 10 large excavators will be working on the site simultaneously.
